Explainer Project:
How to Train Your Human
Inspired by a Letter of Recommendation from The New York Times about Dog Tricks, Nora Caplan-Bricker writes about training her dog as a way to connect with him and eventually relieve herself from perfectionism.
I took this concept of training one’s dog, and was curious what a dog would tell another for how to train their human. How could they get their human to give them more treats? How could they get more play time?
Using iconography after researching dog training symbols, I created a poster with dog paws, silhouettes of dogs, and dog bones to demonstrate the process. Taking a humorous approach to the idea of dog training was appealing reflecting on my own dogs and work with animal portraits. Each animal has a unique personality, to personify them through these icons was enjoyable to design.
